199 days and counting

I just looked at my countdown clock and it is saying there is *only* 199 days left. That sounds a little scary. I think I will stick with saying just over 6 months, yeah, that makes me feel a lot better.
Monday's 4 mile run didn't happen. I ended up pushing it back to Tuesday since we took the girls back to school shopping. It really did not go as well as I would have liked. The heat is getting out of control over here and I think it got the best of me. Anyway, I am putting that behind me and just moving forward. Tomorrow will be a 40 minute run, as will Saturday and I will decide from there what the next week will look like. Although I prefer to run in the morning I think for now I will have to suck it up and just run in the evenings. There is only 11 days until the girls will be starting school and I am hoping to get us all in more of a routine then.
I have decided to kind of back off on my exercise for the next two weeks since I have so much going on with the girls. I am still going to stick with my runs but back way off on the P90X. I am going to take this time off to figure out how I want to work P90X into my training program, while keeping my running as my main focus. I have some ideas, but I am a charts and graph kinda gal so I need to sit down, think it through, and make up a formal plan. I also plan on working up some menu plans to hopefully make things go better all the way around. I kept planning to do it this summer, but it just never worked out that way.

It's Official!

Yesterday I officially signed up for the Princess Half Marathon. There is no turning back now unless I want to kiss my money goodbye, and I don't. I am not sure if making that final commitment helped or not, but yesterdays 40 minute run brought a new pace record for me since starting the Marthoning for Mortals training plan. To top it off it was 43 seconds a mile faster then the run before it. It is always good to feel like you are heading in the right direction.
Tomorrow will be another 4 mile long run, with 40 minute runs on Thursday and Saturday. Next Monday will be a 5 mile run and I am a little nervous for that one. I have never ran 5 miles before but I guess there is a first time for everything.

Feeling HOT HOT HOT!!

This heat has been killer. Yesterday was my long run, 4 miles, and I tried out a new park that has winding trails. Overall the run was okay and thankfully the park had lots of trees to shade it a bit, but it was still very hot. I was able to finish the 4 mile in just under 55 minutes, which I thought was pretty good until I looked at my past runs on Nikeplus.com and saw that that was actually my worst time for a 4 mile run. I am blaming it on the heat and moving on.

Today we are under a heat advisory with a "feels like" of 106. YIKES. Thankfully I got 2.8 miles in in the morning, but it was still pretty hot and when there was no breeze it was very hard to keep running. My pace did reflect this struggle, but thankfully it didn't take too much of a dive. I just keep telling myself in a month or two it will start to cool down and hopefully my running will take off from there.

Tomorrow is a cross training day and right now I have P90X kenpo and stretching planned. Friday will be a rest day and then Saturday will be another 40 minute run followed by the P90X 'core' DVD. Sunday will be P90X yoga  with Monday being another long run day. I will being doing 4 miles again this week and then bumping it up to 5 miles next week.
